Lambani embroidery — practised by the Lambani (also called Banjara) tribal communities
of northern Karnataka — is one of India's most visually striking folk embroidery
traditions. Characterised by geometric patterns, small mirror (shisha) work, and
vibrant thread embroidery in bold colours, Lambani work transforms the base fabric
into something that is equal parts clothing and art.
At Rush Me Fashions, Lambani handwork appears as an embellishment across many of our
collections — combined with Ikkat weaves, Ajrakh block prints, Kala cotton and cotton
slub base fabrics. Pieces where Lambani is the primary feature are rare and available
in very limited quantities.
